What Is ARC?
Google introduces yet another developer tool—the App Runtime for Chrome, or ARC—which has been the latest developer tool,to anyone on any computer running the latest version of the Google Chrome. With the ARC Welder app installed in your browser, you can run any Android app in a virtual environment without actually having any Android devices. Better yet, ARC Welder makes porting an Android app into a Chrome app ridiculously simple. It means you can run almost all Android Apps on the desktop version of Chrome for Windows,Mac OS X and Linux.ARC made it possible to run the Android Apps on nearly every computing platform.
In theory, ARC should also let anyone run an Android app install file (.apk) right on their PCs or Macs. In practice, however, that’s just not the case,at least not yet.ARC is based on Android Kitkat 4.4 that runs on Dalvik VM,and not the Android Run Time(ART) that made debut in Android Lollipop 5.0.
What goes Where in Android:
Advantages of ARC:
Enjoy Android Apps on Desktop:
Coming to the Android App lovers,ARC facilitates the users to run the Android Apps on PC/Laptop with out any Third Party Apps like YouWave & BlueStacks, which relieves us from crashes. All they have to do is to make sure they are having the Latest Version of Chrome.
Saves Developers' Time:
ARC saves the time of developers as they do not have to develop the separate desktop version. It means the developers just have to write in Android and ARC makes it run on every popular OS(except iOS).
Easy way for App Testing:
ARC offers App developers to test the unfinished Apps right in Chrome without having to fire up the programs like Google Android Studio.Developers can get the feedback for their Android App from everyone who doesnt even have an Android Device
If this is made to work reliably, will Android apps become "universal" , meaning run everywhere except on an iphone
